Villa de Tupungato
One of the options is to access to the tupungato valley by provincial route nº86, known as ‘camino de los cerrillos´, which allows to visit the Cristo Rey monument and also to observe from its place of location the whole valley from the hills. Villa de tupungato, with a bit more than 7000 inhabitants, offers to the travellers excellent services and represents a departure point of many excursions following the tracks that lead towards the mountain range. Tupungato offers to the visitor diverse circuits: religious, historical, and adventure tourism; and a complete farming circuit with great warehouses, productive properties and organic crops.
Tunuyán City
Following provincial route 92 you get into the heart of the Uco valley through the denominated “corredor productivo” to accede soon to Tunuyán city. City in complete demographic and building progress, on national route 40, offers to the visitor all services with the cordiality that characterizes to mendocinian people. In its municipal amphitheatre, west border of the Tunuyán river, a popular folkloric event is carried out every year: National Festival of the Tonada. Provincial route 92, that is born in the city and commits towards the west, is the axis that allows sightseeing recognized wineries and apple cider producing establishments, and when reaching the first hills the route leads towards the historical and natural reserve Manzano Histórico.
Manzano Histórico
It is a historical and nature reserve located 40 km from Tunuyán city in mountain surroundings of extreme beauty and harmony, and has places to go camping and different services to the travellers. The name of the place makes reference to the historical apple tree located in the site that became witness of the Gral. San Martin and Cnel. Olazábal encounter when the general returned from his freedom campaign in Ecuador. The “Retorno a la Patria” monument rises in the exact historical place.
Portillo Argentino
This mountain step in the argentine side of the Andes was used by The Andes army to cross to the neighbouring republic of Chile. Every year the crossing by horse is celebrated as part of a trip that starts off from the Tunuyán city.
