San Rafael City
It is the second city of the province and the central point of the Southern oasis. Its urban features are characteristic of the Cuyo region with wide avenues hoisted with its traditional drains. It is worth visiting the Cathedral, Elena and Fausto Burgos residence, Mariano Moreno public library, the municipal sports center. 6 km from the city, in the island of the Diamante River and in the environs of the Mariano Moreno park, it is based the Natural History museum. Few kilometres from the city there are traditional warehouses that elaborate excellent wines, drier fruit establishments, which are added to the beautiful properties of the countryside zone.
Diamante river circuit
It is basically represented by the dams and docks that regulate the Diamante river. In Agua del Toro Dock, 84km from the city towards the west there are nautical sports practices and fishing and also the view of the imposing Diamond hill. In Los Reyunos Dock the visitor found varied tourist services in an ideal landscape of irregular and steep coasts. Other dams are El Tigre and Galileo Vitale dock. In order to finalize we found the historical villa 25 de Mayo, original establishment of the San Rafael fort.
Atuel Canyon circuit
it is with any doubt one of the greater attractions of San Rafael and even of Mendoza province. The Atuel canyon dazzles the visitor by its imposing landscape with diverse rocky formations of varied colors and forms. The circuit is completed with two great dams that comprise a great hydroelectric complex: El Nihuil and Valle Grande. In Villa El Nihuil the traveller will be able to find the most varied tourist services to reach the wished comfort. Throughout provincial route 173, before arriving at the Valle Grande Valley dam, are set clubs, campings, cabins, hotels and the greater suppliers on adventure tourism of the zone.
General Alvear City
General Alvear is an ample, nice city, full of services and is the nucleus of a generous zone irrigated by the waters of the Atuel river. The cattle activity plays an important role for the departmental production and complements itself with the other agricultural operations, especially vines and fruit industry.
