Cerro la Gloria:
The Monument to the Andes Army, located in Cerro de la Gloria (ex Cerro Pillar), had its initiative from the national government, because it took part in the celebration of the Centenary (1910) . His author was the Uruguayan Juan Manuel Ferrari (1874-1916). Juan Navarrese Carlos Olive, Víctor Garino, Calistri, Guarini and Cerini also collaborated in the practical elaboration. The smelting position was made by Ing. Jose Garcia, who already had fused first copies of the Daumas’ original statue of San Martín for the cities of Santa Fe and Mendoza. In 1911, Ferrari chose the Pillar Hill to locate the set, and on January 19th of 1911 the fundamental stone was placed. On February 12th of 1914, in occasion of the 97th anniversary of the battle of Chacabuco, the monument to the glorious army was inaugurated. On a stone base, the ecuestre statue of General San Martín stands out. Backed down and both sides, two reliefs represent the Body of Grenadiers by Horse. On the flanks east, south and west, three frisos in relief, leaned to the base, develop the most remarkable facts of the army formation. The east flank is about the arsenal, in charge of fray Luis Beltrán. In the South flank, the aid of the town stands out: to a side, the ladies donating their jewels, to the other, the humble ones contribute diverse materials. In the west flank the itinerary of the army towards Chile is narrated ; the figure of the Tropero Sosa stands out.
At the top of the sustenation body, a group of grenadiers sends itself to the attack. The figure of Freedom, with chains broken in her hands, advances on the group. More down, a cóndor in attitude to raise flight symbolizes the inspiration that developed the feat. Under the group that sends itself to the load leans an Argentine shield, in the east wall s, the Peruvian and in the west, the Chilean shield.
